In the beginning...
This is my first blog post. Yes, my first.
I must admit it felt a little strange, even just thinking
about it, because when I made the decision to start one I had no idea what to
write.
That’s when I realised that I’d been doing it for years.
Well, kinda... in places like Facebook and Twitter.
Besides, I’ve read a few blogs in my time. Some from really
cool, important people. They seemed to talk a lot about things, like what they
ate for breakfast, who won that big football match and getting a new flea
collar for their cat.
Now, don’t get me wrong and assume I think that I am better
than these celebrities – cos’ I don’t. It’s just that being a busy person, who
already feels he needs to clone himself at least three times to get everything
done, I expected a blog post to contain only important information. Eg. The
release of a brand-new novel, the completion of a movie deal, a cure for cancer
or a story about saving someone’s life.
I guess I just didn’t believe one of my readers would be
excited to learn about how I like my coffee. But then I thought about it a
little more. Deeper this time, and I realised that if William Shatner or Sean
Connery (someone of that ilk) sent me a message telling me about their day, I’d
be pretty damn enthused.
I realised that these celebrities are just like you
and me... people.
So, there you have it. My first blog. Perhaps I didn’t
really say anything. Did I have to?
But I did learn something, as I previously
mentioned. I guess that’s what counts because – as they say, the day’s not
wasted if... “You learn something new every day!” - Rick
